Bio
I am a brand guy who cut his teeth doing PR for entrepreneurial companies in the outdoor, ski/’board, bike, and travel/tourism markets.
Despite my thick portfolio of media placements, I shared the frustration that most good PR people experience in having the traditional media reject the majority of the stories I believed deserved to be told.
My pre-PR professional media background as a freelance writer, live TV host and producer, and DJ combined with my desire to tell these great stories led me to an early embrace of web-based broadcast platforms and communities. My progressive (some would argue a bit too far out in front) enthusiasm for content-driven social media campaigns drove the success of my first PR firm, and allowed me to successfully launch a Digital/Content division in my second.
Brand communications is about telling a brand story in a remarkable and newsworthy manner. The continued evolution of web-based content platforms plus social communities and a solid grasp of SEO and Analytics provide the opportunity for brands (companies, people, movements) to tell their stories to customers, ‘publics,’ and anyone else within earshot.
As with all great marketing, success requires a focused and distinct brand message, creative campaigns, and killer content to generate the kind of emotional reaction that moves people.
That’s where my interests and skills lie.
This Tumblr is a collection of concepts and campaigns that support and inform my approach to marketing. Plus, occasional color commentary on personal issues.
